Paul Gudgin, Creative Consultant to the Durham UK City of Culture bid
Durham is aiming to bring a new culture prize back to the North East and in the process secure the County’s economic prospects.
The Durham City bid to become the UK’s first City of Culture, in 2013, is to receive creative guidance from the former head of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Paul Gudgin will work as a creative consultant alongside the Durham’s bid team to develop a programme of festivals and events as well as helping raise the national profile of the county. Final bid documents are due to be submitted by December this year, with an announcement of the winner by May 2010.
The day after the announcement of his involvement Paul Gudgin spoke to Peter Dixon about his appointment and plans for the bid, including the involvement of the whole of County Durham.
