Lisa Jefferies explains the Insight project

Building on the success of a similar project earlier this year, The Bowes Museum is offering a further opportunity for young adults to discover how to get started on a career in the arts.

The Insight project, which begins on 3 August and runs for three weeks, will have professional artists and actors mentoring 16 to 25-year-olds via a series of workshops aimed at developing skills within the field of theatre and the arts. There will be a chance to observe different types of workshops in a museum setting, meet museum professionals and view behind the scenes.

The project’s aims include confidence building, expanding organisational skills, working towards obtaining a Silver Arts Award and helping prepare for future employment.

The Silver Arts Award is a nationally recognised, accredited programme, equivalent to a Level 2 qualification.

Lisa spoke to Peter Dixon about the project.
